Why I Do This Work
Choosing a counsellor can feel overwhelming. There are many profiles, many approaches, and perhaps a quiet question in the background: will this person actually feel right for me? Because beyond qualifications and therapeutic models, therapy is also about connection.
I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself — understood rather than judged, and able to build a relationship that feels genuine.
At the heart of my work is a humanistic approach. I believe meaningful change happens when we feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted — not judged, analysed from a distance, or rushed toward solutions before we are ready. Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and honesty.
I bring warmth and authenticity to my work, and while therapy can sometimes touch painful or difficult places, I also believe humour has an important place in the room. Sometimes growth happens through deep reflection; sometimes it arrives unexpectedly, in moments of insight, connection, or a little lightness.
My approach
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I adapt the way we work to you, rather than expecting you to fit neatly into one model. Sessions with me move fluidly between emotional exploration and practical tools — whatever feels most useful at any given point in your journey.
What stays constant is the quality of the space: collaborative, unhurried, and genuinely responsive to you.
Alongside my core training, I draw on a range of specialist modalities depending on what you are working through:
Hypnotherapy for patterns, beliefs, or emotional responses that feel resistant to change through conversation alone. Hypnotherapy works with the deeper parts of the mind that are not always accessible through talking.
EFT — Emotional Freedom Techniques A gentle, body-based approach that helps to release emotional blocks by working with the body's energy system. Particularly helpful for anxiety, stress, and feelings that are hard to put into words.
EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing A specialist approach for trauma, distressing memories, anxiety, and experiences that still feel emotionally stuck — even years after they happened. EMDR can be offered as a stand-alone approach for clients who are specifically looking for this, or integrated into wider therapy work where appropriate.
And don't worry — you don't need to know which approach is right for you. That's my job. We'll work it out together.a
